FAVORITE EVENT OF 2024?
Great leaders understand that their employees drive a company forward. I can’t think of a better way to recognize people for their work on the lifesaving devices they develop, manufacture and market than by sharing space for personal storytelling. My favorite event gives patients a platform to share how their lives are improved as a result of employees’ efforts. Honoring each medical device employee – from the product line to the sales team – for making a difference – and hearing directly from those whose lives are transformed by their work – there is nothing quite like it.
WHAT WILL BE TOP OF MIND FOR CLIENTS IN 2025?
ROI. Budget constraints coupled with the need to measure the value of the experience are pushing this conversation forward. The act of gathering can nudge behavior and ultimately change the world. Having a commitment to show the worth in your work, and not just repeating what you’ve always done with diminishing returns, is essential to move our work from a “nice to have” to a “must have.” We are committed to doing the hard work of quantifying emotion. It starts with our core company values of leading with curiosity and empathy.
TWO PIECES OF ADVICE FOR YOUNG WOMEN TRYING TO GET AHEAD IN THE INDUSTRY?
Find female mentors. These champions will believe in you before you ever believe in yourself. An amazing array of women noticed my talents and took an interest in my future success. I am forever grateful. I do my best to carry that generosity of spirit forward to the next generation of women in the industry.
Take failure in stride. The skills needed to advance take real life experience. You will make mistakes – colossal ones. Give yourself grace in knowing that during crisis, growth happens. When I was 22 years old, just starting out, I was in charge of a massive food festival. Somehow, in the pre-production hustle, I forgot to get the liquor permit. In those days, they required you to submit the application a month in advance. The revenue for the whole event was dependent on the ticket sales for the biergartens. The humiliation of walking into the office of the city permits with my head held high, begging to bend the rules the week of the event, will be forever seared in my memory. Years of on-site experience cannot be learned overnight. When you remember this, you can also relish the wins you have, and you will likely have far more wins than failures!
WHERE DO YOU GET INSPIRATION?
