Women in Events Industry Forecasters: Q&A with KRo Events

Lindsay Feeley (L); Kim Rose (R), KRo Events

ADVICE FOR YOUNGER WOMEN TRYING TO GET AHEAD IN THE INDUSTRY?

Our first bit of advice would be to immerse yourself in every opportunity—shadow as many professionals as possible across different roles, from production to staffing and everything in between. The broader your knowledge of the industry, the more valuable and versatile you’ll become. Secondly, we’d stress to never underestimate the power of networking and building authentic relationships. This industry is tightly connected, and every interaction can shape your future—so treat everyone with respect and integrity. Lastly, and maybe our most important bit of advice, is to stay resilient. There will be challenges but remember that your voice and perspective matter.

HOW ARE YOU HELPING CLIENTS UPGRADE THEIR EXPERIENCES?

At KRo Events, we focus on elevating every detail of the customer journey and delivering tailored solutions whenever possible. By learning from past engagements, we continuously improve our offerings, ensuring that each experience feels personalized, different than anything we’ve done before and exceeds expectations.

THOUGHTS ON WORK-LIFE BALANCE IN A POST-COVID WORLD?

To strike that healthy balance between work and personal life, we believe it’s crucial to set clear boundaries. Prioritizing tasks is key—focus on ‘the list’ by identifying the most important and impactful tasks first, then allow yourself time to disconnect and recharge. Consider team members’ working styles & available hours to ensure the system is working for everyone. By recognizing that each member of the KRo team has their own perspective on what work-life balance means to them, we’ve been successful in fostering an environment that keeps this at the center of all that we do. It’s not just a catchphrase we use to sound good—it’s something we truly prioritize.

WHERE DO YOU GET INSPIRATION?

We find inspiration everywhere! Whether it’s browsing a retail store, scrolling through social media, or even observing the energy and movement at an airport. When you keep an open mind, everyday experiences can spark new ideas and creativity.

IF YOU COULD GO BACK, WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE YOUR YOUNGER SELF WHEN YOU WERE JUST STARTING OUT IN EVENTS?

If we could turn back time, we’d tell our younger selves to embrace every learning opportunity, as each experience is a stepping stone to growth. We would also emphasize the importance of building genuine relationships; kindness and collaboration can open doors in unexpected ways. We also really believe in the power of networking, not just to expand one’s professional circle but to gain valuable insights from other’s experiences and perspectives. Lastly, we’d tell ourselves to never turn down a new opportunity out of fear of failure. Failure is inevitable at some point, but it’s through those stumbles that you’ll learn far more than if you only stick to what’s safe and familiar.

HOW ARE BRANDS UPGRADING THE LOOK AND FEEL AT THEIR EVENTS?

We’re seeing brands level up their experiential experiences by collaborating with other premium brands, emphasizing personalized offerings, investing in quality staff to provide outstanding customer service. They are also incorporating fewer but more impactful design elements that make a statement and deeply resonate with guests.

To effectively engage audiences, we recommend that people think about integrating storytelling elements and branding that can extend beyond the physical event into digital spaces.
